J'accuse His Excellency Bishop Robert Lynch....

The pastiest of pasty-faced prelates
It is fitting during this Holy Week that we review some of the more notable of current day Iscariots.

The Bishop of Tampa/St Petersburg, Robert J Lynch, needs to be deposed for the good of the Catholic Church and the souls in that diocese.  This has to be said plainly.  I call upon the Pope to remove said Bishop from his See, for the good of the Catholic Church and the souls of that diocese.

To the long list of his derelictions of duty, his questionable manner of living, his cowardice, the protection of sodomite priests in his diocese, his use of church donations to pay off those who brought credible accusations of homosexual advances, the strong hint of financial malfeasance in awarding lucrative diocesan construction projects to his "special friends" and his indifference in the face of the starvation death of Terry Schiavo can now be added his open promotion of the mortal sin of sodomy.  Such a man is unfit to be a Bishop of the Catholic Church.  He is a disgrace to his cloth, a cause of scandal whose continued presence as a Bishop gives strong evidence of an outrage that needs to be immediately addressed by Rome.

Here is the evidence:

Glancing over these links suggests the emergence of a clear pattern.  This pattern becomes even more visible when we read some of Lynch's most recent statements, which are very telling.

Judas has nothing on him.

Are you listening, Pope Francis?  Perhaps you might put your song-writing efforts aside for awhile and deal with such episcopal traitors as the one who now disgraces the Diocese of Tampa/St Petersburg.

Well, at least the Catholics of his diocese won't have to endure him too much longer, regardless.

Indeed, Vox. Yet I shudder to think who will follow in Lynch's soiled footprints.

Sadly we have had the ArchBishop of Adelaide (pop 1.5 million) capital of the state of South Australia being charged in another state-New South wales with aiding a priest who had abused children, when he was Bishop of a diocese there. Must be a friend of lynch's. Pope Francis seems all talk and no
action -except against those who are faithful to the Depository of the faith

Unless the civil authorities come after him for his crimes, he will most likely remain in place until retirement...maybe to a nice beach house with a 'friend'.

I believe he also hates Eucharistic adoration...

I will defend the Bishop. I have lived in St Pete for 11 years now. I came here and for the first two years or so fumed at how bad the masses are and how shabby and weak the diocese is. I then grew sympathetic and even like my Bishop now. I have met him and he was very kind. Here's the thing about Bishop Lynch, he doesn't like the TLM nor do I think he likes the tradition but guess what? He allows us to have our TLM every Sunday and Holy Day and First Friday right there at the Cathedral. He also lets us have another TLM up in Tampa at a different time on Sunday. We also have the choice to drive one hour down to Sarasota (d9fferent diocese) to the FSSP chapel. It's not so bad here. The Bishop has made mistakes in his life, so have I but I'm not his judge. There are many many great priests in this diocese, I know, I have driven and attended mass from one end to the other, it's a huge diocese. Say a prayer for Bishop Lynch today, pray for your priests and bishops.

He "let you have" the traditional Latin Mass? Oh, how beneficent, how gracious how bloody kind of him.

It is not up to him.

It is up to the people who ask for it and the priest who celebrates. It is your right and the priests.

It is nice to see though that he has caught up to Quattuor abhinc annos (1984). Maybe some day he will catch up with Ecclesia Dei (1988) or even Summorum Pontificum (2007).

Nice bit of condescending bitchiness on Maundy Thursday.
Perhaps this is what Bishop Lynch does not like about "tradition".

@ Aged Parent: probably Toups. If so, he'll no doubt continue the work of the apostate Lynch. He'll just be a lot 'nicer' about it.

@ the owner of this blog: I need to get in touch with you privately. If possible, please let me know how to do that. Thanks.

Thank you for your comment.

Regarding "judging" our prelates I would only say that we must judge their words and actions. We cannot judge their souls - that's God's business; but their words and actions we can and must judge. And if Bishop Lynch's words and actions are any indication his soul may be in grave danger just now. Indeed pray for him...but don't excuse him.

And Vox is entirely correct when he points out that the Bishop can neither allow or disallow the celebration of the Ancient Rite of Mass. Those Bishops who did suppress it were abusing their power shamefully, and those Catholics who went along with this suppression out of a spirit of false obedience were in serious error. I would also point out that even the unspeakable Rembert Weakland "allowed" the traditional Mass in his diocese.

All that being said Lynch should never have been made a Bishop in the first place.

Jesus' words to M. Vogel: "NEVER attack a priest...rather one should pray and do penance...whoever voices judgment over a priest has voiced it over Me...never let a priest be attacked, take up his defense...say nothing about him, rather tell it to Me alone." If the laity need prayers then priests and bishops need prayers all the more. Any bishop that allows the latin mass is better than those others who won't. If everyone complaining on this blog would do penance for priests instead of complaining about them there would be greater grace in the Church...

Maybe you still can’t see the ecumenical elephant, but can you at least hear it?

I do think that it is important to reveal those who would be a stumbling block to others. At the same time, we need to pray for these men that Holy Spirit might reform them. I understand that we in our diocese, were allowed to bring in the FSSP because the bishop was so liberal that he would let anyone say a Mass in his diocese.

His desire to be associated with- and for those who want to keep their eyes closed, please google - an infamous English "Priest" named Timothy Radcliffe - tells you where he wants the church to go.
Homosexuality will never be an accepted lifestyle in the Catholic Church.
Good Lord, ISN'T THAT WHY THERE ARE PROTESTANT DENOMINATIONS??
Those faiths who "protest" Catholic doctrine should be waiting for the sexually diverse people with open arms.

To Anon who "will defend the bishop" - you are supposed to defend JESUS CHRIST. Let Teri Schiavo be starved to death (and how many since her in "St" Pete nursing homes; let 3000+ babies be murdered every day in US; let seminaries be turned into sodomite cat houses to service the perverted desires of prelates like Lynch; but as long as you can have a "latin mass" performed by a lying perverted sodomite, you will defend the devil! Hope you enjoy hell w/bishop you defend.

See what the people do in Chile - maybe learn something.

Good work. Here is some work I have done in St. Pete. The Bishop has yet to answer these simple questions on Catholic Doctrine.
